Hosted shopping cart or custom shopping cart

What is better ? my own shopping cart or a hosted shopping cart. I know that the hosted one is cheaper like http://www.shoppingcartdepot.com but is it cheaper for a reason. An what would be the benefit of having my custom ecommerce website with its own shopping cart

It depends. Hosted shopping carts are generally cheaper but you get a package of services and you need to adjust your business model to them. Custom ecommerce solution or custom shopping cart is more expensive but it will be tailored to your needs and will be serving you better.
With a hosted shopping cart you may end up doing manual work such as order processing. The custom shopping cart will save you time and money on the long run.
